Back to the Blogging World with Kiwi Lane Designs

So it has been way too long yet again since I've last blogged.  What can I say life just catches up to me.  I really wanted to get back into blogging as I've said before, but what better way to do it that with a project/product highlight and a blog hop!!!!  So if you've been doing the hop you would have just seen some of the awesome creations by Van Nguyen.

So when the opportunity came up to work with some Amazing Kiwi Lane designer templates, I was thrilled, until however I realized what I would be working with!!!   The Tiny Shapes templates.  Let me clarify, I do LOVE the templates, and have used the tiny templates for scrapbook layouts as well as cards.   I  really wanted to do something that highlighted the AMAZINGNESS of this product and really how much potential there is with these little pieces of magic.   It then came to me....... I've been wanting to make a gratitude calendar for the month of November, the tiny shapes would be perfect for it!!!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted my children to be reminded what the spirit of the holiday is about for the whole month.  So how it will work is after dinner, the girls would take turns picking the number starting from 1 and we'd read the card together, talk about what it means for us and and do the activity on the card.

One of the things I loved most about these templates, especially for this project was that I could plan what shapes would be on what paper, and use the paper with minimal waste.  Also I was also able to use some of the  pieces of card stock I had, that otherwise would unable to be placed through a die-cutting machine.

Anyways there you have it!!!   Thanks once again for stopping by please feel free to follow my blog and leave a comment and I will have a drawing for some Kiwi goodness.  I hope to post more frequently!!!   Also a random winner from ONE of the participating blogs (including the Kiwi Lane blog), will be given a $25 gift certificate to the Kiwi Lane Shop, for leaving a comment and will be announced on the Kiwi Lane blog on Thursday, November 7th

Now off to  Lissa Mitchell to see her wonderful creations on the Kiwi Lane November blog hop.  Enjoy!!!!

Authentiques' Free Bird Cardmakers Dream Bundle!!!

Hello all I guess I've fallen off the blogging wagon (yet again), but again my hope is to get back on it!!!  And what a way to start back!!!   I was given the opportunity to work with part of today's steal on Scrapbook Steals which is a daily deal site that gives you wonderful deals on scrapbooking supplies!!!!  The steal today is Authentiques Free Bird Cardmakers Dream Bundle, which is just what the title says!!!   A card makers dream.  This collection was separated and between seven us and after I received this, I had to clarify that this was only part of todays steal.!!! This is what I received from the collection:
I was so excited to start working with this collection, that I started the night I received it!!!   There was so much to love about this collection, from the 6 x 6 free bird pad, to a heap of icons from the blissful collection, and  a stack of headlines/notables from the uncommon line!!!  If you have never used Authentique paper it is truly a treat- the free bird 6 x 6 pad was no exception!!!  It like all of Authentique's other paper is high quality heavy weight card stock.  Another bonus is all of their paper is made right here in the USA ( so we can truly justify that stealing today will seriously help the US economy!!!!).   I was able to make five different designed cards today and then made between 3-4 of each card for a total of 22 CARDS!!!  Yes that's right 22 cards, and I still had 4 pieces of free bird paper left and a whole heap of paper notables/ titles available!!!  Here are some photos of what I was able to create with the part of todays steal:

No be sure to stop by the Scrapbook Steals Blog to see what the other wonderful cards were created with today's steal.  Be sure to follow my blog if you are  not a follower, and I will draw a prize for one lucky follower on Wednesday July 30, 2012.

Cheers!!!!

Authentique's February Sketch Challenge!!!

Authentique, one of my FAVORITE manufacturers has a monthly sketch challenge which I decided to participate in this month.      I love everything about this company!!!   Last October, while attending the Scrapbook Steals crop, I was fortunate to tour Authentiques warehouse/office.  I felt like had died and gone to "scrappy heaven!!!!"  From the product, to the environment, and most importantly the people I can truly say this company is truly "Authentique".   One of the most useful tidbits I learnt, while meeting with Bret, Sam and Melodee of Authentique was that their product was made right here in the USA.   I absolutely love everything about this company ( can you tell???)

Here is what I created from it:
I absolutely love how versatile their paper is.   I used their gathering collection paper line and I love how the colors, brought out the colors of the picture. Specifically used was:
-gathering "reminisce" paper
-gathering "together" paper
-gathering notables for part of the title.
-gathering icons for the border in the middle of the page

This picture was taken last summer while we were visiting Sri-Lanka and hit a beach on the east coast of Sri-Lanka!!!  My daughter Anah absolutely embraced and loved the beach!!!

Have a good one!!!

A new jewel series on Scrapbooksteals has started!!!!!

So my posts have been scarce recently, primarily  because "life" as we know it has taken over!!!   With our whole household being sick it basically took up a good portion of this month!!!   Unfortunately scrapping has taken a back seat this month.   Often when I fall behind, I'm almost afraid to start back up (just like exercising!!!!)  So this week I was thrilled when the super talented Kristy Lee of Scrapbook Steals, started up a new jewel series (Amethyst) with their weekly mid week mojo (MWM).

Here is her super sketch:

And this is what I created:

I switched it up and used 3 4 x 4's instead as I really wanted to use these pictures.    I finally was able to open up American Crafts Hello Sunshine kit- and can I tell you while using this kit I was smiling from ear to ear, it is such a happy collection!!!    My base card stock was actually a piece of corrugated cardboard that came as packaging and I thought it would add some texture.   I also used some glimmer mist to mist up a Pink Paislee mistable flower, and some doodlebug buttons!!!!   I had so much fun crafting!!!

So hopefully I'm back on the bandwagon and will be posting more!!!

Cheers!!!!

Joining the Blogging Wagon

I finally thought it was time to join the blogging wagon, primarily for my love of paper crafting.   So let me first start by introducing myself.   My name is Minousha Bari, I was born in Toronto, Canada, but now live in upstate New York (recently voted the snowiest place in the country)- this year however, we have been blessed with spring like weather all through winter.   I am married to my wonderful husband of 12 years Raslaan, and have two daughters Anah (8 years) and Alaia (3 years going on 16!!!!!).  I graduated from the University of Toronto as an Occupational Therapist many many years ago.   I recently took a leave of absence from work, to be at home with my girls (and am LOVING every moment of it!!).  My primary purpose for creating this blog is to share my love of paper crafting.   I started scrapbooking seriously probably three years ago, however I've always loved taking pictures and preserving the memories.   In fact, as soon as I graduated from university I went down to live in Louisiana for two years, and used the old fashioned method of posting my pictures in a black cardstock albums and journalling my thoughts beside them!!!!   I still love looking back at those albums!!!!

Besides papercrafting, some of my other interests include exercising, running, and cooking.   I am hoping to do a half marathon in a few weeks so that has been consuming my extra time recently (there I've said it publicly now I have to do it)!!!!!   From time to time I will post extra tidbits about my other interests or my life happenings!!!!

Last summer we were fortunate enough to visit  Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai UAE, and we swam with the dolphins, here is a picture of my family(still have to scrap this one)!!!!!

One of my newest favorite web browsing pastimes is Pintrest, there is such wonderful inspiration on it on all things.   This week I made a layout based on something I had pinned.   Last weekend we went to the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY and Alaia my three year old rode the carousel all by herself for the first time.

I look forward to sharing with you!!!
Cheers!!!
